Mechanical Repairs

Something’s not working? Maybe I can fix it!

  • Automotive
  • Small engines
  • Household appliances
  • Miscellaneous gadgets

I grew up in New England and have been doing woodworking projects since I was a small boy at my father’s knee. I started doing residential remodels and home restoration during my college years and have kept my hand in it all my professional life as a social worker and mediator. Not only have I mediated contractor-home owner disputes but in my life have worked out conflicts both as a homeowner and a contractor.

I hold myself to a high standard of integrity- both in the quality of my workmanship and the materials I use as well as well as in the quality of my professional relationship with you, the customer. I value open and honest communication and seek to establish clarity of understanding before moving forward on any project. My sole form or marketing (in addition to this website) has been and continues to be by word of mouth from satisfied customers.

I have worked on crews to build houses in years past. I built my own three-level house in Evergreen in the 1980’s. I oversaw and worked on all phases of the construction from site survey and architectural design to ceramic tile installation, painting, wallpapering, interior trim and everything in between. I managed all the sub-contractors.

These days, as a sole proprietor, it is not practical for me to take on large projects. A crew works better for that. (I’m getting a little too old for that, anyway). However I still enjoy taking on small and mid-sized projects. We can play around with some design ideas which I will draw up for your approval, determine what materials you would like to use, then work up an estimate and move forward on the build when you are ready.

My Dad was an optical physicist who inculcated the desire and wherewithal in my brothers and I to figure out creative solutions to perplexing problems by our own wit, imagination and experimentation. I have developed and carried that knowledge, skill and experience throughout my life. If you are flummoxed by how to solve some sort of perplexing problem, why not call me to discuss ways of solving it?

If you have an old house, household appliances, car, or miscellaneous gadgets and need someone who is good at making repairs, give me a call. I have a great deal of experience improvising creative solutions to tricky problems. I would be happy to review your project list.
